The heavy snowfall in January and February and then the hot sun (we're at
6,000 feet, and the atmosphere is 25% less dense than sea level, so the sun
is especially hot here, even in winter) create a lot of runoff, and then the
runoff freezes at night to form huge ice buildups, especially around the
roof edges. Now with the warmer than average temps the ice is falling off in
spectacular crashes. Falling ice has done about $400 in damage so far this
season, and it's not over yet. March and April are usually heavy snow
months. Time to think about installing heat tapes on the roof.
The new book is well underway, although the folks at William Morrow haven't
given me any comments on the outline. No news usually means good news. I
think if they really hated it or had problems with the story they would've
told me right away.
Back to work!

Things have settled down into a routine now that we're back from flight
training in Florida. That's why there hasn't been any blog entries lately.
